NO BLADE OF GRASS (1970)
(aka The Death of Grass)

Review: Mankind is faced with a virus that has wiped out nearly all of earth's crops.  An English family struggles to survive in a world gone mad.  They start their journey in cars, but soon these are taken by force at a roadblock of townspeople looking out for themselves in this new world of desperation.  That's not all that is taken by force, as a gang of thugs viciously rape a mother and daughter in this bleak study of humans on the brink of extinction.  The film is presented in widescreen format, with the exception of previously cut footage, taken from a German VHS.  This is the only way to see the film completely uncut.  In English, no subtitles.  Quality B+

Directed by: Cornel Wilde

Starring: Nigel Davenport, Jean Wallace, and John Hamill
