ONLINE NEWSLETTER NOVEMBER/DECEMBER 2008

It’s CDB newsletter time again, and we have a vast array of new titles, and upgrades to tell you about, plus we have a new section in our newsletter called Arno’s Vault of Cult, written by our film authority from France Arnaud Planson.  Arno has a terrific write up on sexploitation director Max Pecas, plus great reviews of some of the obscure titles from France that we have recently acquired, giving you some great information on these films that you may have never heard of before.

Now I suppose this next section should be where I go off on a rant concerning the current state of affairs in this world of ours.  I could go on about the economic problems our world is facing, and what a mess everything is on Wall Street, this is what it takes to make our gas prices lower??  I could complain about my neighbors, the idiot that cut me off, and then flipped me the bird, the rising shipping costs at the post office, my lazy kids, my worthless dog, I don't even own a dog!, my back hurts, where the hell is all this hair coming from that's not on my head?, but why would I want to trouble you guys & girls with my problems, this is about movies, the purest form of escapism, and that's what we want, we want to escape from this shitty reality that is life, and watch some cool flicks, so we don't have to think about just how crappy this world has really become.  With that said there will be no rant from me, just some great info on what's new at Cinema de Bizarre, and like they say in show business, it's now on with the show!

We’re always in search of the best prints possible, and this month we have added a bunch of new upgrades for titles that were just crying out for us to find a better print.  We now offer free upgrades, so if you see something from the following list that you have previously purchased from us, drop us an email, and we’ll send it out to you.

Here's just a sampling of some of the great new titles we now have available at Cinema de Bizarre for your viewing pleasure.

BEYOND LOVE AND EVIL (1971) (aka De Sade 76, Sade 76, The Philosophy of the Bedroom) Here's the incredibly rare big budget sleaze epic, filled with every kind of sexual depravity imaginable, and some unimaginable.  Almost non-stop nudity, women being hunted down by dogs, a guy killed with a knife to the crotch, and a woman dumping a bag of slimy octopi on a bed, and jumping in, and rubbing herself down erotically with them.  More than enough sleaze for the most jaded fans.

THE CURIOUS FEMALE (1970) (aka Curious Females) Incredibly rare Sci-fi/exploitation takes place in the year 2427, where Los Angeles is now an island. A secret society of toga wearing movie enthusiasts watches sexploitation movies from the old world that are now considered prohibited by "Master Computer".

DEATH SHOCK (1981) Super rare sex and horror film from the man responsible for the "Ben Dover" series.  Lesbians, devil worshiping, and Penthouse pet Linzi Drew highlight this film that finds 6 friends on their way to Norwich, whose car runs out of gas, and then forced to take shelter in a mansion nearby.  Loaded with sex scenes, and some elements of horror.  Fullscreen, in English, no subtitles.  The film above is somewhat short, so we'll toss on a nasty little short film entitled EVILIO (1992) A disgusting psychopath drags schoolgirls into his sleazy little apartment room, asks questions they cannot answer, and then kills them in various gruesome ways.  In Spanish language only.

DELITTO D'AUTORE (1974) Sylva Koscina stars.  Here's a giallo of the ultra rare variety, written and directed by Mario Sabatini.  A group gathers at the estate of a countess, awaiting the award of an art prize, only to receive a phone call threatening murder if the prize is actually awarded.  Plenty of nudity, blackmail, a killer with black gloves, and a bit of lesbianism tossed in round out this rarity.  Widescreen, in Italian, with English subtitles.

DRIVE-IN (1976) Here’s a fun cult comedy that follows the adventures of a group of teenagers at a Texas drive-in one weekend night.  The best part of the film is actually what's playing on the screen, the movie within the movie, DISASTER '76, a terrific parody on the disaster movie craze of that time.  Fullscreen, in English, no subtitles.

EMBRUJADA (1969)(aka Bewiched) We had a hard time deciding which genre to place this film in, so since this is considered Isabel Sarli's only horror film, we placed it here.  Plenty of Sarli nude in this rarity about a woman who dreams of becoming pregnant and having a baby, motherhood gradually turns into an obsession for her. Unfortunately, she has married an impotent man. But she tries to get pregnant anyway. She even tries to work as a prostitute and goes to a local witch. But the real problem is that an evil entity called Pombero has fallen in love with her, killing all the men crossing her way.

EVIL SABBATH (1988) (aka La Visione del Sabba) Rare erotic Italian horror film is a surrealistic tale about witchcraft, women, sexual desire and satisfaction.  It tells the story of a young beautiful woman, played by Beatrice Dalle, who has been accused of attempted murder.  She is kept in a mental hospital because she claims to be a witch from the 17th century who has been waiting several centuries for the man worthy of taking away her virginity.  The case is given to a young psychiatrist who soon becomes fascinated with her world of pagan pleasures and dreams.  After the sight of the "Sabbath" during one of these visions, he completely falls under her witchcraft and voluntarily becomes the object of her satisfaction.

FLASH AND FIRECAT (1976) A fun and fast paced redneck 70's drive-in car chase flick, with lots of familiar faces, including the gigantic Richard Kiel. Fullscreen, in English, no subtitles.

HORROR STORY (1992) (aka Krvavy Roman) If you're looking for a super cool horror film like no other, then here it is.  A film from Czechoslovakia, this fantastic movie is filmed in sepia tone, and shot like a silent film.  It has the look, and feel of an old-time picture show, once the gore and cannibalism kicks in you realize this most definitely is not.  Fullscreen, in Czech, with English subtitles.

HOW TO GET REVENGE (1989) This one says it all!!  Hosted by Linda Blair (The Exorcist). This is just as harsh and cruel as it's reputed to be! Lots of mean-spirited revenge tips are presented. The craziest include turning in "minorities" to the INS and getting enemies' names on gay mailing lists. Very un-P.C. but a must-see because it's one of a kind.  Full Screen, in English, no subtitles.

IN THE HIGHEST OF SKIES (1977) (aka Nel piu alto dei cieli) A group of priests and nuns get stuck in a Vatican elevator for few days, on a visit to the Pope.  Soon they become crazy, urinate and defecate in the lift, vote to suck blood from a dead man and attack each other for food. Incredibly rare Italian film, with cannibalism, and bizarre sexual acts. Widescreen, in Italian language only, no subtitles.

ISLAND OF THE SWEDES (1969) (aka No Man's Island, L'isola delle svedesi, Twisted Girls) Super rare Italian exploitation from director Silvio Amadio, the man behind "Amuck", and "Smile Before Death".  A woman breaks it off with her man, and heads to a Mediterranean island to hang with her friend.  It's not long before the two girls become involved in a lesbian love affair.  The ex-boyfriend shows up to swoop his girl off her feet and eventually she decides she'd rather have sausage then pie.  This leads to a violent reaction from her scorned lesbian love interest.

THE LONELY VIOLENT BEACH (1971) (aka La Lunga spiaggia fredda, Death Company) Rare Rape & Revenge. Widescreen, in English, with Swedish subtitles.

NAKED AND LUSTFUL (1974) (aka Carnalita, Carnal Revenge, Erotic Revenge, Hot Playmates) Ultra rare uncut print of this erotic thriller from Italy, has Erna Schurer, as a femme fatale out for revenge against the man who was responsible for her father's financial misfortune.  She marries the bastard, and then proceeds to bang him to death, literally.   Fullscreen, in English, no subtitles.

NIGHT CHILD (1975) (aka II Medaglione insanguinato, The Cursed Medallion, The Night Child) A young girl is presented with a medallion as a gift that once belonged to another girl who is now dead.  Once she puts the medallion around her neck, she becomes possessed by the spirit of the former owner, who just happened to also be psycho.  Considered to be just another "Exorcist" knock-off upon release, the film is actually a very slick, and stylish thriller that is highly recommended.  Widescreen, in Italian, with English subtitles.

NIGHT OF THE LIVING BABES (1987) Here's a very rare great little low-budget zombie horror/comedy about two guys who are looking for a brothel and find themselves in the clutches of beautiful female zombies.  The film features Michelle Bauer, and Connie Woods, so plenty of topless scenes to keep us interested as well.  Fullscreen, in English, no subtitles.

NIGHTS OF THE FULL MOON (1998) (aka Les Nuits de la Pleine Lune) Over the top gory, and gruesome shorts films, including the elusive, and much sought after "The Bloodthirsty Fairy", from a French cable broadcast, hosted by Lolo Ferrari, and a short guy dressed like a priest.  Letterboxed, in French language (some English), no subtitles.

SEX FURY (1976) (aka Furies Sexuelles,Les Marie-Madeleine) From a hospital bed, after an attempted suicide, a woman tells an understanding doctor her whole sleazy story, lucky for us.  After being fired from her job at a lingerie shop, she resorts to prostitution.  Roughed up, and raped by her customers, including a nasty whipping scene, she soon slashes her wrists, due to the shame, and degradation of it all.  In French language only, no subtitles.

SEX OF THE WITCH (1973) (aka II Sesso della strega, The Evil Eye) Super rare, and sleazy combination giallo, erotic sex flick, and gothic supernatural horror.  The death of an old man, brings his heirs to a creepy mansion for the reading of his will, where they are killed off one by one.  A bounty of softcore sex, nudity, and Camille "I Spit On Your Grave" Keaton has her breast cut open with a knife by the killer, as he sucks her blood from the wound.   Widescreen, in Italian, with English subtitles.

SEXY NIGHT REPORT (1977) (aka Le Notti porno nel mondo, Sexy Nite Report, Mondo Erotico) Completely Uncut Italian language print of this rarity directed by Bruno Mattei, and uncredited Joe D'Amato.  Laura "Emanuelle" Gemser takes us on a sleazy guided tour, and gets naked of course, of the many sexual perversions that take place around the world.  Feast your eyes at the many stops on this sleazoid express including, strip shows, lesbo clubs, sex through a glass, nude roller-skating, she-males, nude wrestling, sex schools, virgin sacrifices, hell there's even something for the gorehound with decapitations, and castrations.  Fullscreen, in Italian language only, no subtitles.

SIGNED FURAX (1981) (aka Signé Furax) Extremely rare, and forgotton film based on a 40's to 50's radio comedy show, with an all star cast.  A criminal master mind reduces the size, and steals the most famous Paris monuments (Eiffel Tower, Triumph Arch,etc...), all the best police and secret agents are on his trail. Completely mad, with a lot of slapstick comedy and constant jokes, no need to think, just enjoy the silliness of it all. Widescreen, In French language only, no subtitles.

SUBWAY RIDERS (1981) For lack of better genre to fit this film into, it landed in the horror section due to it's similarities to Abel Ferrara's "Driller Killer".  A saxophonist lures his victims to their death with his music.  Robbie Coltrane, now famous for his portrayal of Hagrid in the Harry Potter series, plays the detective on the case.

WHAT A FLASH! (1972) This French film took approximately 100 people, put them on a soundstage and had them improvise this film based on the premise that they are on a spaceship escaping from the dictators of earth and only have a few days to live. Improvisation is a dangerous art-form; unprepared amateurs invariably come up with gross caricatures when challenged to improvise. The actors' choices in this film include an allegorical pageant of the life of Jesus, a marriage, an orgy, and some genuinely affectionate moments. In French language (some English is spoken), no subtitles.

YOUR HANDS ON MY BODY (1970) (aka Le Tue Mani sul mio corpo) Here's an extremely rare giallo highlighted by luscious Eurobabes Erna Schurer, and Collette Descombes.  Fullscreen, in Italian, with English subtitles.

ZOO ZERO (1979) Ultra rare bizarre, and stylish arthouse curio starring Klaus Kinski as the director of a zoo that becomes a degenerate cabaret after hours.  Great quality Widescreen print, In French, with English subtitles.
